Upcoming PS5 and PS4 games for January and February 2022

Well into the first month of the year, PlayStation is geared up to introduce hits after hits to its players. The list of upcoming games includes everything from action thrillers to psychological thrillers, there seems to be something for everyone.

So, without any further ado, let’s get right into some of the upcoming games that are all set to launch on PS5 and PS4 in January and February 2022.

 

Blackwind

For PS5 and PS4

Blackwind is a survival indie game, published by Blowfish Studios. Developed by Drakkar Dev, this sci-fi thriller pits you against foreign beings in foreign places with the view to protect your planet.

The game heavily relies on a storyline that follows our protagonist on an adventure to not only find his father but also save his planet from external forces using a fight suit prototype he is stuck in. Blackwind can be played in single-player mode as well as co-op local mode. There are various combinations of attacks that can be used to survive and slash the enemy. All you have to do is learn them in time. 

 

Rainbow Six Extraction

Rainbow Six Extraction developed by Ubisoft Montreal is a spin-off of the 2015 Rainbow Six Siege. Rainbow Six Extraction is a multi-player survival and shooter game. The game introduced Archaeans, a group of aliens who have infested various locations and are posing a great threat to humanity.

The three-player team goes up against these parasites-like creatures in an attempt to complete pre-determined objectives and missions. These may include freeing a team-mate, collecting samples, gathering intel and information from electronics and so on.

Several operators from Siege have returned and can be chosen as operators for missions by players. There are a total of 18 operators each with a unique and amazing skill/trait that will give a boost to the player during their mission. 

 

Windjammers 2

For PS5 and PS4

Windjammers 2 is the sequel to the 1994 hit, Windjammers. It has been developed as well as published by Dotemu. The game comprises both multi-player as well as single-player modes. It also introduces an Arcade mode, that encourages several matches at once in a championship.

The rules and gameplay are quite easy to understand. Two teams play against each other in a fierce Frisbee match. The points that can be earned are 2, 3 and 5 by landing the frisbee on the competitor’s side floor, landing in the opponent’s yellow goal zone and red goal zone respectively.

Also, the player is expected to defend their own goal. There are a total of ten courts to choose from out of which six return from Windjammers. An array of 11 colourful characters awaits you, each with skills and advantages of their own.

 

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves brings to you a remastered version of two global hits- Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

When Nathan’s presumed dead brother comes back asking for his help and offering him his biggest adventure yet, both of them are plunged back into the world of adventure and thieves. In search of Henry Avery’s lost treasure, hunter Nathan travels the Madagascar forests that will test his ability and him to the fullest.

Chloe Frazer seeks Nadine Ross, a renowned mercenary’s help to find the Golden Tusk of Ganesh. They travel through the Western Ghats in an attempt to get to the tusk before an evil villain who is also after it. The storyline along with its intense characters and not to forget the gorgeous backdrop of the Western Ghats should get you to play this game. 

 

 

King of Fighters 15

King of Fighters has been around,being at the top of fighting games since 1994 and has built itself a cult following that is a force to reckon. The series is back with its latest instalment- KOF XV which is all set to release in February this year.

The 15 rosters- Hero Team, Fatal Fury Team, Orochi Team, Sacred Treasures Team, Art of Fighting Team, Ikari Team, Secret Agent Team, Rival Team, Super Heroine Team, G.A.W. Team, K’ Team and more are back in action with KOF XV. A new playable character- Dolores is making their debut with this. Their appearance along with their fighting stance has all of us expecting a lot from the character. 

 

Horizon Forbidden West

One of the most anticipated upcoming games, Horizon Forbidden West is finally coming to our PlayStations on the 18th of next month. One of the most iconic characters in the history of PlayStation, Aloy is back with her adventure as she along with a group of companion’s travel to the Forbidden West (a post-apocalyptic United States) to find the source of a deadly virus that has plagued many.

The video game has several added maps and a larger area to explore as compared to its predecessor- Horizon Zero Dawn. The latest in the series is filled with other-worldly graphics and updated gameplay. Horizon Forbidden West also includes exploration of the underwater surface. 

 

Destiny 2: Witch Queen

Destiny 2: Witch Queen is all set for a February release after the disappointing delay last year. Destiny was first released in 2014 and the series has been expanding since.

The creators of the game are bringing forth Savathun the witch queen who has been mentioned several times before in the series as the antagonist of this instalment.

This new game includes a completely new realm known as the Witch Queen’s Throne World, an array of new amazing weapons and opportunities to use great attack combos, showcase defence techniques and so much more.

The game is also said to bind all the previous instalments in a continuous narrative expanding across several games.

 

Martha is Dead

Straight from the studios of LKA, an Italian developer, Martha is Dead is classified in the psychological horror genre. The 10 people team that has worked on the game for years seems to have taken extra care with the visuals and designs of the game.

The story follows around our playable character Guilia, whose twin sister, Martha dies. And the impact her death has on her family and the people around her is what set the storyline of the game. Guilia sets out to find out who exactly killed her sister.

Set during the World War Era, Martha is dead gives the perfect insight into the horrifying gore of those times. As mentioned before, the graphics are so breath-taking and realistic that is both gorgeous as well as chilling at the same time. This one has been on my waitlist for quite some time now.

 

Elden Ring

Next on the list is the highly anticipated Elden Ring. Hidetaka Miyazaki who directed the game collaborated with George R.R. Martin, a fantasy novelist best known for his fantasy series ‘Game of Thrones’.

The game will be a role-playing action thriller that will have both action and exploration at the core of it. The game will also have a multiplayer mode where the player can summon a co-player to assist with the game.

As for the gameplay, the players will be free to explore the maps after a certain progression into the game. And the attacks will range from several skills related attacks, summoning, use of weaponry and so much more.

 

 

In conclusion

Now that’s what we call an amazing start to the year. PlayStation is in no mood to let its momentum be slowed down in any way. With the release of the above-mentioned games and many more upcoming games that we couldn’t fit in the list, gamers all across are more than happy to own a PlayStation console.
