PS PLUS – Membership & Its 3 Tier

3 tiers-PS Plus Membership

Sony officially launched its revamped PlayStation Plus game subscription service, the company announced recently. Called PlayStation Plus, the new offering combines two of Sony’s current subscription services, PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now, in one. PlayStation Plus is considered Sony’s version of Microsoft’s popular subscription service, Xbox Game Pass.

PlayStation Plus started launching in June and will debut in select countries in Asia before expanding to North America, Europe, and other regions. The company is likely to share more information about certain release dates in the coming weeks.

The new subscription service is offered in three tiers. The tier which is lower is called “PlayStation Plus Essential” and offers the same benefits as current PlayStation Plus members, including two downloadable monthly games, exclusive discounts, cloud storage for saved games, and online multiplayer access. 3 tiers-PS Plus Membership is the same as the current PlayStation Plus price of $9.99 per month, $24.99 quarterly, or $59.99 per year. In Europe, it costs €8.99 per month, €24.99 per quarter, or €59.99 per year.

Next is the mid-level, called “PlayStation Plus Extra”. It offers the same benefits as the Essential tier but includes a choice of up to 400 games for PS4 and PS5. Sony points out that extra-level games can be downloaded to play online. The premium tier costs $14.99 per month, $39.99 per quarter, or $99.99 per year. In Europe, it costs €13.99 per month, €39.99 per quarter, or €99.99 per year.

Out of 3 tiers-PS Plus Membership, the topmost subscription tier of service is called “PlayStation Plus Premium,” and it gives you access to everything at the Essential and Extra tiers, plus 340 games, which includes PS3 titles, that you can stream via the cloud. This tier will also have classic games in streaming and download options, including original PlayStation, PS2, and PSP games. Sony notes that this tier will also offer a limited-time trial version of the game, allowing customers to try out certain games before going to purchase them. The top tier prices to $17.99 per month, $49.99/quarter, or $119.99/year. In Europe, it costs €16.99 per month, €49.99 per quarter or €119.99 per year.

At launch, Sony has plans to offer games like Death Stranding, Marvel’s Spider-Man, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11, and more. Sony has no plan to make all of its upcoming PlayStation exclusive games available on release day.

“The new 3 tiers-PS Plus Membership showcases a major development for PlayStation Plus,” said PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan in a statement. “With this tier, our primary focus is on ensuring that the hundreds of games we offer feature the high-quality content that sets us apart. We work closely with our imaginative developers at PlayStation Studios and third-party partners to bring some of the best gaming experiences available to a regularly updated library. Stay tuned for more details on the games we’ll be offering on our latest services of PlayStation Plus.

This news follows months of speculations that Sony might change its game subscription service to take over Microsoft’s popular Xbox Game Pass offering. Microsoft has invested a lot of money in Game Pass since the company acquired significant video game publishers like Activision Blizzard and Bethesda for $68.7 billion and $7.5 billion, respectively.

According to Sony, when the new 3 tiers-PS Plus Membership launches, PlayStation Now will switch to the new PlayStation Plus offering and will no longer be offered as a standalone service. PlayStation Now subscribers will migrate to PlayStation Plus Premium without increasing the cost of their current subscription at launch.
